From July 29th through August 1st of 2019, VentureOut partnered with Medstartr to power an amazing EXPLORE Healthtech program! In this one-week workshop-filled program, startups learned how to scale and raise capital and got connected with some of the top healthtech influencers and investors in NYC.
Birya BioTech's system takes EpiPen autoinjectors where the drug inside has expired (12-18 months after purchase), securely opens it up using a specially designed, patent-pending device, and refills the epinephrine inside. Our system is small and mobile so this can take place in a local pharmacy within a few minutes. Schools will send Briya BioTech their unused EpiPens at the end of a school year for a bulk refill. Pharmacies will be able to refill their leftover stock and will be able to use our system to offer autoinjector refills to patients. Similar bulk customers include hospitals, airlines, summer camps, restaurants, EMS companies, and more.

Scaling a startup is hard. Scaling one in a turbulent and broken healthcare sector…good luck! We were delighted to hear from healthcare veteran and entrepreneur superstar Jo Schneier about how he’s attacked the healthcare industry, scaled Trusty.care, and succeeded in the face of impossible odds. This was an invite-only breakfast reception with an audience consisting primarily of active venture and angel investors focused on HealthTech space.
The Pitch Night
The pitch night is the capstone of the Healthtech Program. We started with networking, cocktails, and hors-d’oeuvres. Following a round of introductions, each startup pitched for 3 minutes and received feedback from each investor on the panel. The night was capped off with more networking and refreshments.
